I think buying a used tower will be easier than build your own since
there are safety and other issues, if $$ is your primary motivation
for this project.

Yes, through a small transformer. Heath and Eico used to make bridges that
were excited by 60Hz. But expect this to work acceptable only for
inductors that have significant reactance at 60Hz. 2.5 millihenries is
under 1 ohm at 60Hz, and a 2.5 millihenry RF inductor is very likely to have
more than 1 ohm DC resistance. You will have some trouble resolving the
inductive part with simple home methods. It will be MUCH easier if you
build up a little 10kHz oscillator... But if you are measuring reactors
for use in 60/120Hz power supply applications, then the 60Hz would be
appropriate excitation. Or if you are measuring 10 henry audio chokes, it
should work fine. -- Be sure that you don't put so much current through
the inductor that you cause it to overheat or to magnetically saturate.

I'm looking for a source to make a mini transmitter about the
size of a 9V battery. Does any one have any plans or where I
can buy one?
Thanks and 73,

Subject: Non-linear Eq'n plotter WANTED
I am looking for a Public Domain Software package that will allow me to
input a non-linear equation (say the logistic equation) and the
parameter(s) domain and initial condition. The output from the package
must be both numerical and graphic. Graphics is of the utmost importance.
If you know of a such a program and the FTP site where it can be
retrieve please reply direct to me.
